Last weekend I popped down to New York City for a hot second to go to a Paul McCartney concert at Yankee Stadium with my parents. The concert was fantastic - there were fireworks, drunk-looking children, a cameo from a surprisingly sober Billy Joel - but for my mother's decision to lean in to me during "Let Me Roll It" and whispered, "You know what this beat is good for." Then she prodded my father and made an "Mhhhhmmmm!" noise that carried so much undertone that the sound of it will haunt my nightmares until the day I die.
