Chilean born artist Sebastian Errazuriz on the chart he painted outside his Brooklyn studio reflecting that, in 2009, there were two times more suicides of American soldiers than casualties in Iraq.

It is of note, however, that this number may be misleading: Errazuriz's statistics reflect (I believe) all U.S. soldiers who committed suicide, which should include soldiers of all ages and all possible wars Americans have been involved in. So the set of individuals in the first column - all U.S. soldiers and veterans - is a much larger cohort than simply those soldiers who died in combat in Iraq. Feel free to correct this further.

Anybody not on the Dr. Dog wagon needs to hop the caravan before we drown fording the river...yeah, I sort of got lost in the metaphor on that one.

Erin tells me that some of my music taste is "mayonnaise". This is probably the same stuff my mother would call "bubblegum", or they're at least in a similar vein. Strangely, this reminds me of the fact that, earlier this year, I told someone that I seldom listen to the lyrics of songs. It is difficult to express the incredible depth of that particular lie, though in retrospect it should've been obvious. I spent my college career as an English and Creative Writing student, so obviously words me a lot to me (though ironically not in this particular song).

From Bridget:

(I love the falling animals section)

PS. Fun fact of the day: Dachshund means "Badger Dog" in German. They were specifically bred to be elongated, tough and tumble dogs who could squeeze into badger dens and survive a badger rumble. Also, they look like wieners.
